ASK:
Assist in the PRODUCTION of the annual VCUarts Fashion event by creating promotional content & Working on a select team of creatives
Creating the show
Before this opportunity, I had no idea what it really took to put on such a large scale & widely anticipated event like ACCESS. After finding out I was selected to be a part of this student-led production team I was ready to get to work! Throughout the course of the semester, our team worked closely together to start piecing together all of our ideas for this year’s event. Ultimately, we came together to conceive the idea for ACCESS: an event that would focus around giving the audience a behind-the-scenes look into the hard work & talent of the VCUarts Fashion Department. ACCESS to us meant breaking down barriers, unveiling what used to be out of the public eye, and of course, making our show accessible to all by offering FREE tickets to the event.
The lead-up to the final event consisted of weekly team meetings, model call, workshops, jury - our garment selection process, photoshoots, fittings, rehearsals and more.
What does Access mean to you?
This was the first question asked to each of us on our very first meeing for the show. We were asked to create a mood board & color scheme to what we felt ACCESS meant to us. Below is my version of ACCESS!
CONTENT CREATION
Being on the promotions committee, I was responsible for creating promotional materials for the event. This consisted mostly of social media deliverables in the form of instagram posts, reels and live streaming. My teammates and I captured moments to use in these deliverables at a variety of events & workshops prior to & during the day of the event itself.
